Dr. Chris Spooner, ND

Dr. Spooner is a North Okanagan naturopathic doctor with 20 years of clinical experience. His professional objective is to improve health care outcomes through the development of integrative care strategies, evidence informed clinical practice and innovative research partnerships. He received a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Victoria and his ND from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. In 2003 Dr. Spooner accepted the position of Post-Doctoral Fellow in Environmental Medicine at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM), Environmental Medicine Center of Excellence.

After completing the fellowship in 2005, he continued instructing at SCNM as an Assistant Professor, teaching courses in toxicology, environmental medicine, nutrition and supervising student clinical rotations at the Southwest Naturopathic Medical Center. While in Phoenix, Dr. Spooner was on staff at Phoenix Fire Department (PFD) Medical center as the director of the PFD Wellness Center. Dr. Spooner has been a member of the medical advisory boards for, Integra Nutrition, MedReleaf, True Leaf Medicine International and Pharmacielo, a Canadian/Colombian cannabis company and served as theChief Scientific Officer for Heritage Cannabis, a Health Canada Licensed Producer, with cultivation and extraction operations in Ontario and British Columbia. He is a Key Opinion Leader and on the medical advisory board of Atrium Innovations, a division of Nestlé Health Sciences, and is responsible for developing and delivering clinical education, integrative care protocols and products for gastrointestinal health and cannabinoid therapeutics.

He has been a board member and vice chair of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia, the government mandated, regulatory body for naturopathic doctors, since 2008. He also holds positions on the Quality Assurance Committee, the Standards of Practice Subcommittee, the Cannabis Standards Subcommittee, the Pharmacopoeia and Diagnostics Referral Committee and is the CNPBC’s representative for the Inter￾professional Working Group
